Bellagio Conservatory Review

Year of the Dragon

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon with a spectacular display guided by Feng Shui,  the art of using surroundings to attract harmony, balance and positive life energy.

This year’s centerpiece consists of two animated 25-foot Chinese Dragons wrapped around a cylinder of water. Watch as the Dragons blow steam from their nostrils at a legendary, oversized iridescent red pearl hanging above. According to Chinese folklore, the pearl represents wealth, good luck and prosperity.

Nearby, two animated green and gold dragons face the direction of the centerpiece. The dragons, 15 feet in length, represent earth and metal. These dragons are set on a bridge that leads to a Ming Dynasty-style gazebo. The gazebo's design follows the principles of Feng Shui, providing a difficult route for negative energy and bad spirits.

Just steps away, two animated brown and red dragons representing wood and fire, are joined by silk red Chinese lanterns, a Chinese-style bridge and gold leafed I-Ching coins.

For the first time ever, see musicians perform live traditional folk and pop music using authentic Chinese instruments. These instruments include the erhu, ruan and pipa. Complimentary performances take place inside the Conservatory from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m., daily.

Enjoy the Chinese New Year display now through March 4.

Bellagio has crafted its very own masterpiece in its conservatory.

Beneath a 55-foot-tall glass ceiling, elaborate floral arrangements fill the bright, airy atrium with eye-catching color and rich fragrance. The epitome of beauty and elegance, the botanical gardens encompass approximately 14,000 square feet and provide an endless array of photo opportunities.

A staff of more than 100 designs and maintains the botanical garden; 24 people are in and out of the exhibit daily to feed, water and replace any plants where necessary. Flowers for the Bellagio Conservatory are imported from all across North America.

Even though the selected flowers and plants do well in the Conservatory's 78- to 80-degree climate, they are replaced and refreshed every two weeks -- and many are hand-watered.

The Bellagio Conservatory changes along with the seasons five times a year - Chinese New Year, Spring Celebration, Summer Garden Party, Harvest Show and Holiday Show. All themes are unique and built from the ground up.

Unique features of the immense garden are winding pathways affording guests a closer view of the abundant foliage and numerous water features. In addition, a portion of the dining area at Cafe Bellagio faces the garden, providing exquisite scenery.

The conservatory is conveniently located next to the parking garage, restrooms and lobby. To further enhance your visit, be sure to pick up a brochure detailing the display at either the front desk or concierge. Brochures are available two weeks after each exhibit's debut.

And while you're in the area, check out the stunning "Fioro di Como," a glass sculpture by artist Dale Chihuly, commissioned exclusively for Bellagio. The colorful sculpture is located above the front desk lobby and features more than 2,000 individually blown glass pieces.
