The Sling Shot at Circus Circus Review

Ride facts
  • Max Speed: 44.0Gs up, -1.0G down
  • Ride Height: 100 feet
  • Ride Duration: 1 minute
  • Capacity: 12 people
A quick and fun ride, the minute-long Sling Shot is a must at Circus Circus, and it's one of only six of its kind in the United States.

The Adventuredome's answer to the growing popularity of "thrill rides," the Sling Shot took a year to develop and cost $1.5 million to build.

The car is composed of a circle of 12 seats, and riders are strapped in with their feet left dangling. After several seconds of building anticipation, the car shoots up a 100-foot tower at 4 Gs of force, 1 G more than a rocket launch.

Near the top, the car suddenly brakes and then slowly climbs an additional 10 feet. But somehow, the car must go back down, and so the free fall begins. The trip back down is so fast, it gives riders a feeling of weightlessness.

Short but sweet, this ride is one worth trying.
