Stratosphere Tower observation deck Review
View the city in 360-degree panorama at the Stratosphere Tower.
The tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States, the 1,149-foot tower consists of an outdoor deck at the 869-foot level (where you'll find many a sunbather in May) and an indoor deck at the 857-foot level. Termed a "pod," the indoor deck rests on three legs. Because of this, the glass angles outward; those afraid of heights are better off on the outdoor deck.
A bank of elevators beams guests up to the pod at a dizzying 1,800 feet a minute. Total time from ground level to pod: 30 seconds. But spectators get the best view of Vegas.
The indoor deck is the loading area for the Big Shot; however, the outdoor deck is the best if you want to snap some pictures or watch the riders. The outdoor deck is also home to X Scream and Insanity. The indoor deck offers a snack bar and two gift shops, and both decks have high-powered lenses for closer viewing.
The tower also features the revolving Top of the World restaurant and lounge, which rotates 360 degrees in an hour.
