Trends, fashion, celebrities, events, music, and all things only Vegas
This weekend is filled with huge names in Las Vegas, and we're extending it even further into Monday night to invite you to see the finals of the Vegas Spin-Off, where seven mixmasters compete live at Marquee nightclub at the Cosmopolitan.
Kick things off Friday with DJ Scene and Lisa Pittman spinning for Ditch Fridays at the Palms. When the sun sets, Jay-Z hosts 1,000 Nights of Tao Nightclub at the Venetian and Bruno Mars performs live at The Bank inside Bellagio. Nick Cannon spins at Chateau at Paris Las Vegas, Eddie Thoneick and Bassjackers are on the 1s and 2s at Haze inside ARIA and Eva Amurri celebrates her bachelorette party at Lavo inside Palazzo. Skrillex spins at Surrender inside Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, EDX & Blake Jarrell man the decks at Marquee and apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas performs a special DJ set at Gallery at Planet Hollywood.
On Sunday, kick back by the pool with Markus Schulz (one of the judges for Vegas Spin-Off) along with Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano at Marquee or head over to Pete's Pool Party with Sidney Samson at Encore Beach Club.
Las Vegas is no stranger to jam-packed weekends of entertainment, and this past weekend was certainly no exception, with stars from music and film descending on the city for a weekend packed with excitement.
It began with the official Las Vegas premiere of The Hangover 2 on Saturday afternoon at Planet Hollywood. Stars from the film as well as several Las Vegas celebrities walked the red carpet -- and one even took that a step further. Justin Bartha, who plays Doug, wasn't satisfied with talking about the new flick with the media onslaught. He hopped the carpet rope and went straight through to greet fans along the back wall, taking pictures and high-fiving the crowd.
Las Vegas was the site for another premiere on Saturday: The launch of Glee Live Tour 2011 at Mandalay Bay Events Center. The cast from the hit TV show opened their national tour to a packed house of "Gleeks."
Of course, on the hit program, actors sing the hits from today's top artists as well as from music legends. But on Sunday, the MGM Grand played host to many of the artists themselves as the biggest names in the music industry converged for the 2011 Billboard Music Awards. The show featured performances by Beyonce, Britney Spears, Rihanna, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum, Cee-Lo Green, Nicki Minaj and more. From the red carpet to "Icon" award recipient Neil Diamond performing to close the show, the Billboard Awards featured the best musicians on Earth in the most exciting destination in the world -- Las Vegas!
