Gaining its first exposure after touring with Rod Stewart in the late '70s, Air Supply quickly became known for its sugary ballads.
The duo of Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell met while starring in a production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" in Sydney, Australia, in 1976. In 1980, Air Supply released its first album, "Lost in Love." Due to the strength of the title track, as well as singles "All Out of Love" and "Every Woman in the World," the album went double platinum.
The band's second album, "The One That You Love" also became a success, although the title track was its only No. 1 hit. In 1983, a greatest hits collection featured the new single, "Making Love Out of Nothing at All," which spent two weeks at No. 2 and sold over four million copies.
After a two-year break, the band returned in 1985 with the single "Just As I Am," and began a trend of releasing a new album every other year.
In the 2000s, the duo toured throughout the world including Asia, Jamaica, Cuba, India and the U.S. In 2005, Air Supply released a live CD/DVD recording and the acoustic album, "The Singer and the Song" in 2006. Air Supply released the album, "Mumbo Jumbo" in 2010.
To date, Air Supply has recorded 17 studio albums and four greatest hits compilation albums.
