An Evening of Pop and Doo Wop

The Tokens

The Tokens were one of the first independent, not to mention youngest, teams to produce recordings for a major label, breaking into the really big-time in 1962, when they became the first vocal group to record for another vocal group! Remember "He's So Fine" by the Chiffons? That was the first of many smash hits Jay and his group had a hand in producing. They became the production geniuses behind numerous other hits by The Chiffons, as well as the biggest hits by Tony Orlando and Dawn, The Happenings, Randy and The Rainbows, and Robert John.

Besides leaving their imprint on the pop music scene as singers, songwriters, arrangers, producers, and record executives, Jay Siegel and The Tokens were successes as writers, producers and singers of commercials, reminding us that "Pan Am makes the going great...", "Ban won't wear off as the day...", and that "Benson and Hedges are a silly millimeter longer..." They were also the voices for Clairol, General Foods, Wrigley's gum, Sunkist and Wendy's.

Jay Siegel and The Tokens are truly one of the pop music scene's most versatile, talented and enduring groups!

Joey Dee & The Starliters

"Well, meet me, baby, down on 45th Street" ... is a line that was synonymous with The Peppermint Lounge in 1961 when Joey Dee and The Starliters were rocking the house with their smash hit, "The Peppermint Twist", and shot to fame on the charts.

It all started when one weekend, a New Jersey act, Joey Dee & The Starliters, were booked to play at the then obscure Peppermint Lounge on West 45th Street in New York City, actress Merle Oberon and Prince Serge Oblinski came and danced the night away at the Peppermint Lounge. When this was reported the next morning by columnists Earl Wilson and Cholly Knickerbocker, it took barricades and mounted police to keep the crowds in line, which had backed up to Broadway, the next night!

Joey Dee & The Starliters became the house band and wrote the tune that would extend the Twist craze for another 6 months.

Now joined by original member, Dave Brigati, and singer, Bobby Valli (Frankie Valli's brother), Joey Dee and the Starliters continue to tour all over the US and Canada.

The Angels®

The Angels® is one of rock and roll's favorite girl groups, known world-wide for their smash hit record, "My Boyfriend's Back," and are currently portrayed in the Broadway smash hit "Jersey Boys."

Two "Jersey" girls founded the group that came to be known as the Angels®: Barbara (Bibs) Allbut Brown and sister, Jiggs Allbut Sirico, formed the group in 1961. They recorded two chart hits "'Til" and "Cry Baby Cry" with Linda Jansen on lead. Linda left to be a solo artist and in 1963, another Jersey girl, Peggy Santiglia Davison, came on board. Peggy sang lead and it is her voice that you hear beginning the famous lines: "He went away and you came around and bothered me every night."
The Angels® continue perform world-wide, looking and sound fabulous, with original members, Jiggs and Peggy. Jiggs' daughter Karalyn completes the current line-up, replacing her Aunt Bibs.
