The Australian Pink Floyd Show is not just any tribute band. They strive to fully recreate the look and feel of Pink Floyd's later tours. The band incorporates lasers, animations, inflatables and other visual elements to replicate the true Pink Floyd concert experience.
The group has worked to incorporate a wider range of Pink Floyd songs and fan favorites, building an app that enables fans to pick their ultimate set list. Using that information, Australian Pink Floyd has created a new show featuring a set list that includes: "Meddle," "Dark Side of the Moon," "Wish You Were Here," "Animals," "The Wall," "The Final Cut," "Momentary Lapse of Reason" and "The Division Bell."
Driven by their passion for the band, the original members of The Australian Pink Floyd Show joined musical forces in 1988. The tribute band spent years perfecting the sound, feel and experience with weekly practices. The Australian Pink Floyd Show performed initially in front of a select group of family and friends and soon after had its first paying gig at a hotel. The band, which used to go by Think Floyd, performed many gigs in Australia and finally changed its name to The Australian Pink Floyd Show.
The band lineup for this tour consists of Steve Mac (Guitar & Vocals), Jason Sawford (Keyboards), Dave Fowler (Guitar & Vocals), Paul Bonney (Drums), Ricky Howard (Bass & Vocals), Chris Barnes (Vocals), Mike Kidson (Saxophone), Lorelei McBroom (Backing Vocals), Lara Smiles (Backing Vocals) and Emily Lynn (Backing Vocals).
In 2004, the band performed "The Dark Side of the Moon" at the King's Dock, Liverpool. The performance was recorded and released as a DVD the same year.
In 2005, the band released a CD of their renditions of "Animals" and "Wish You Were Here" at the Liverpool Pops Festival. A documentary about the group was shot at the Bell Centre in Montreal and was shown on the Discovery Channel in 2007.
The Australian Pink Floyd Show toured Europe in 2013 with their "Eclipsed by the Moon" tour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of "Dark Side of the Moon."
