Cover bands don't normally evolve out of the actual band they're covering, but that was exactly the case with Creedence Clearwater Revisited, which was born out of the successful rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Creedence Clearwater Revival's distinctive sound can be heard in classic songs from the '60s and '70s, like "Suzie Q," "Born on the Bayou," "Run Through the Jungle," "Bad Moon Rising," "Down on the Corner," "Fortunate Son" and "Who'll Stop the Rain."
Following the breakup of CCR in 1972, band members Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, who'd been friends since junior high school, formed a production company together. They launched the Revisited project in 1995 to play live CCR hits, minus singer John Fogerty and his brother Tom.
Creedence Clearwater Revisited was initially supposed to be a short-run project to play private parties, but soon the band was getting 100 gigs a year. They continue to play sold-out tours across the world.
