Jeff Beck and Brian Wilson rose to fame in their own rights. Beck, who, as a lead guitarist of The Yardbirds, produced such hits as "Heart Full of Soul," Bo Diddley's "I'm a Man," "Shapes of Things" and "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago." Wilson, as a teen, was launched into fame with The Beach Boys for such hits as "Surfer Girl," "I Get Around," "In My Room," "Help Me, Rhonda" and "California Girls."
In their youth, Beck's electronic guitar and Wilson's melodic surf music would have been odd bedfellows, but decades later, the musicians are collaborating on a North American tour. Beck was also a guest artist on Wilson's upcoming studio album.
Beck was inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- in 1992 as a member of The Yardbirds and in 2009 as a solo artist. Wilson and The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. In 2000, Wilson was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
"Jeff is one of the most amazing guitarists I've ever worked with and his vibe is inspiring," Wilson said. "I feel having Jeff Beck co-headline with me is a cool and exciting addition. We've got some new tunes we want to try out on a live crowd as well as doing some great music from our catalogues."
Wilson's former bandmates Al Jardine and David Marks join them on the tour.
