Comedian and actor John Pinette is known for his impressions as well as his stand-up comedy. Some of his notable alter egos include The Chipmunks, Elvis Presley, Gollum from "The Lord of the Rings" and Marlon Brando as the Godfather.
For more than 20 years Pinette has been touring as a stand-up comedian and entertaining audiences around the world. He was born outside of Boston and graduated from high school in 1982. He started a career in accounting, but friends persuaded him to pursue his other passion, making people laugh. In 1991 he got his big break when he was invited to tour with Frank Sinatra.
In addition to stand-up comedy, Pinette has performed as an actor and singer. His film credits include "Duets," "Dear God," "Junior," "The Punisher" and "The Last Godfather." He was a regular on the teen sitcom series "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" and appeared in the final episode of "Seinfeld." Pinette was named "Stand-Up Comedian of the Year" by the American Comedy Awards in 1999. In 2004 Pinette joined the touring cast of the musical "Hairspray" in the role of Edna Turnblad. He moved to the Broadway production in 2005 and performed in that role until 2006. His comedy was also featured in the Comedy Central animated series "Shorties Watchin' Shorties."
In January 2007, Pinette's Comedy Central stand-up special and DVD "I'm Starvin" was released as a follow-up to his successful CD "Show Me the Buffet." His Comedy Central special "John Pinette: Still Hungry" premiered in July 2011. In 2012, Pinette was one of the comedians featured in "Ron White's Comedy Salute to the Troops."
