Comedian Larry the Cable Guy began his career like many other comics -- on a dare at a local comedy club.
In 1988, he quit his day job as a bellhop at the Ramada Inn and hit the road where he was soon entertaining comedy club audiences with his one-liner style of stand-up. He also made appearances on "Evening at the Improv," "Comic Strip Live," "Comedy Central" and "Showtime."
Larry the Cable Guy hit the radio scene in 1992 as a character on a morning show in Tampa, Fla. His wacky commentaries were soon carried daily in 35 markets on rock radio.
In 2000, Larry was asked to join the Blue Collar Comedy Tour starring Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Bill Engvall. The tour led to three movies and a Grammy award-nominated soundtrack.
A television series, "Blue Collar TV," launched in 2004 on the WB network and featured sketches that centered on a theme that was revealed at the beginning of each episode. The show aired through 2006.
The movie "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector" was released in 2006, which earned him a Razzie Award nomination for worst actor.
Larry is co-starring in the 2013 film "A Madea Christmas" and is the host of the History Channel's "Only in America" travel series.
