For nearly a decade, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. have found great success in their marriage as well as in their journey as recording artists, performers and authors. Throughout their time together, the pair performed together as the lead singers for the top singing group The 5th Dimension and has since been awarded seven Grammy Awards as well as 15 gold and three platinum records.
The couple's most recent CD entitled "The Many Faces of Love" is a collection of love songs, hits from their musical era of the '60s and '70s that explore the various aspects of relationships.
Having enjoyed starring roles on television and performed sold-out concerts worldwide, the duo's show will highlight their background in jazz, blues, R&B and gospel. Audiences have always been drawn to the real-life, loving dynamic between McCoo and Davis as they perform together on stage.
In the late '60s and early '70s during their time with The 5th Dimension, McCoo and Davis recorded such classics as "Up, Up & Away," "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In," "Wedding Bell Blues," "One Less Bell to Answer," "Stoned Soul Picnic" and other chart toppers. And once they moved on from the group, they had immediate success with the single, "You Don't Have to Be a Star (to Be in My Show)." It was a No. 1 hit that earned them the Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance By a Duo or Group.
Their Grammy success peaked network interest and CBS-TV premiered "The Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. Show" as a primetime summer series in 1977. McCoo and Davis entered the '80s as an international success. They headlined in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Atlantic City, played to SRO crowds in concerts around the world and won the prestigious Grand Prize at the international Tokyo Music Festival. And back home, they were sought-after guests for every major television show.
