In Cirque du Soleil’s latest creation, four misfits get sucked into a magical world inspired by the music and imagination of Michael Jackson.
Throughout the show, our four heroes are encouraged by Jackson as they each wear an iconic piece of his wardrobe – glove, shoes, hat and sunglasses.
While the show features innovative new Cirque du Soleil acrobatics, cutting-edge video and light effects, state-of-the art surround-sound environment and amazing dance numbers, the star of the show is Michael Jackson.
Throughout the performance Jackson appears both aurally and visually. The theater’s stage and walls have been transformed to create the most dynamic and immersive video displays to be experienced in Las Vegas. GPS trackers allow to the show to project video anywhere, even on the performers.
“Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil” showcases re-mastered versions of Jackson’s hits. Separate groups of speakers plus in-seat speakers, three in each chair, create a layered audio effect like a true Jackson concert experience.
The audio and visual surprises grow throughout the performance, culminating in a unique visual illusion that allows Jackson to dance with the cast in a performance of “Man In The Mirror.”
Acts set to “Bad,” “Smooth Criminal” and “Billie Jean” combine Cirque du Soleil’s acrobatic strengths, stunning visual work, Jackson’s dance and music, to create a synthesis that pays tribute to Jackson’s amazing artistic performances. While numbers performed to “Human Nature,” “They Don’t Care About Us,” “Planet Earth / Earth Song” and “Man in the Mirror,” best capture the spirit of Jackson’s philosophy that “We’re all one.”
Other memorable songs including “Beat It,” “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin,” “Dirty Diana,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Thriller,” “Black or White” and more (roughly 30) are presented.
"Michael Jackson ONE" is designed for the Mandalay Bay Theatre by director Jamie King, who masterminded "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour." The production is a fresh creation, developed in consultation with the Michael Jackson estate and committed to honoring the artist's legacy by staying true to Jackson's spirit as a performer and a person.
