Don't get it confused with punk rock. Recycled Percussion uses buckets, power tools and anything else they can get their drumsticks on to create their unique style of junk rock. The group formed in 1994 in New Hampshire at their high school talent show. Since then, Recycled Percussion has formed a powerful live performance show that combines exhilarating, fast-pasted music with gravity defying athleticism. These performers can flip and spin just as fast as their drumsticks.
Many people may recognize the group from their third place finish on NBC's "America's Got Talent." The group finished third out of more than 100,000 acts and became the first non-singing act to place in the top three in the show's history. After their success on the talent show, Recycled Percussion has been featured on the "Today Show," "Carson Daly," "Talk Soup" and "Crook and Chase."
Recycled Percussion is a great show for young and old. Before they enter the theater, audience members pick up pieces of junk and drumsticks to be used in the interactive fun. Guests compete for the honor of their favorite cast member by trying to bang on their pot or pan louder than their neighbors. The heart-racing music played on makeshift drums is impressive and exciting, and pantomimed skits and a little voice modulation keep the audience laughing throughout the show.
After an homage to the top 10 rock songs of all time, the cast brings out its trademark act for a big finale. The audience stands, cheers and bangs their instruments in unison as the performers play the rungs of giant ladders.
From the first blast of rock 'n' roll to the last clang as you drop your junk back in the bin, Recycled Percussion is a crash-banging bunch of fun.
