Soul and R&B singer Robin Thicke, the man responsible for "Blurred Lines" -- the "song of the summer" -- will perform at the Pearl in the Palms Hotel & Casino on Dec. 29 as part of the hotel's New Year's celebrations.
Thicke got his start at a young age, learning to play the piano at 12. By the time he was 16, he was writing and producing songs for top artists including Color Me Badd, Brandy and Brian McKnight. By the age of 21 he had written and produced songs on more than 20 gold and platinum albums for stars including Michael Jackson, Marc Anthony, Christina Aguilera and Pink.
In 2003 Thicke release his debut album "A Beautiful World." Thicke continued to work with top artists, writing and producing songs for Usher, Lil' Wayne and Mary J Blige. His second album "The Evolution Of Robin Thicke," released in 2006, went platinum and is now headed toward double platinum status. The album spawned the hit "Without U," which topped four Billboard charts simultaneously: No. 1 R&B /Hip Hop album, No. 1 Hot R&B / Hip Hop song, No. 1 Hot R&B Hip Hop Airplay and No. 1 Hot Adult R&B Airplay.
In 2008 he released "Something Else," which spawned two hit songs -- "Magic" and "Tie My Hands." "Something Else" was followed in 2009 by "Sex Therapy." The album's title song would be hailed by critics as "the sexiest song of the year" and reach No. 1 on the R&B / Hip Hop charts. "Love After War" followed in 2011.
Thicke's latest album, "Blurred Lines," and its single has rocketed him to national stardom. New York Magazine called the album, "A great record. Period." The single "Blurred Lines" has been dubbed the song of the summer for 2013. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and the single was simultaneously No. 1 the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, making Thicke only the 17th artist to accomplish this in the past 10 years.
