Sarah Silverman

Sarah Silverman started as a writer on "Saturday Night Live," but was fired after one season because she had written only one sketch to make it to dress rehearsal and none to make it on the air. She moved on to be a featured performer on the HBO sketch comedy show "Mr. Show" with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. She also made guest appearances on "Seinfeld" and "The Larry Sanders Show."

These days, she is a fast-rising star. She starred in her own concert movie and has a show on Comedy Central. Her movie, "Jesus is Magic," opened in only eight theaters, but quickly expanded to 57 theaters and grossed more than $1.3 million. Her television series "The Sarah Silverman Show," which debuted in February 2007, delivered more of Silverman's provocative observations on life. She can also be heard as the character Hadassah Guberman on the prank-calling puppet show "Crank Yankers."

Silverman's biting wit and sarcasm is a stark contrast to her innocent outward appearance. With jokes focusing on controversial issues that are usually delivered from a stereotypical Jewish-American princess point of view, Silverman isn't for the easily offended.
