Well known for his work as the head writer on the award-winning variety show "Saturday Night Live," comedian Seth Meyers is taking his material on the road and heading to Vegas. The New England native joined the SNL cast in 2001 and soon made headlines with his character as the anchor of the show's longest-running recurring sketch, "Weekend Update."
Prior to focusing his attention solely on "Weekend Update," Meyers was a regular player on the show, impersonating numerous characters and performing various impressions. Most notable was his portrayal of Senator John Kerry during the show's satire of the 2004 presidential election.
Meyers, a graduate of Northwestern University, studied and performed at ImprovOlympic (IO), a world-famous improv comedy theater in Chicago. Notable IO alumni include Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jason Sudeikis, Mike Meyers, Chris Farley and Rachel Dratch. After leaving Chicago, Meyers went overseas and began performing his acclaimed show, "Pick-ups and Hiccups," with partner Jill Benjamin at the Boom Chicago Theater in Amsterdam.
More recently, Meyers hosted the 2010 and 2011 ESPY Awards on ESPN and headlined the 2011 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner as a keynote speaker. He also has appeared in the movies "New Year's Eve," "I Don't Know How She Does It" and "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist."
In Spring of 2014, Meyers will be the new host of "Late Night," succeeding Jimmy Fallon who is taking over as the new host of "The Tonight Show."
