Whispers

The Whispers got their big break in 1964 with the release of their single "I Was Born When You Kissed Me." The group was formed by brothers Walter and Wallace Scott. They joined with friends Nicholas Caldwell, Marcus Hutson and Gordy Harmon. After their hit song, The Whispers gained a steady following for their twin lead vocalists.

The Whispers didn't stay quiet for long, and in 1969, the group cracked the soul charts again with "The Time Has Come." The following year they made it to the R&B Top 10 with "Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong." The Whispers were the first artists featured on the Soul Train label.

Throughout the '70s, the group gained national attention for their albums "One For The Money," "Open Up Your Love" and "Headlights." Some of their other big hit singles include "And the Beat Goes On," "Rock Steady" and “No Pain, No Gain.” The group continued to see success into the '90s with their single “Is It Good to You.”

The Whispers were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003 and won the Rhythm and Blue’s Foundation’s Pioneer Award in 2008. The group released a live album, “Live from Las Vegas” in 2007. The most recent album,“Thankful,” was released in 2009 and made it to No. 25 on the U.S. R&B charts. The Whispers have three gold albums and one platinum to date.
