Hard Rock Race and Sports Book Review

The Hard Rock Hotel is one of Las Vegas' hippest hangouts and the sports book at the hotel is no exception, combining gaming with nightlife.

The sports book itself is relatively small, but it offers all of the action a bettor could want, including daily lines, futures and pari-mutuel race betting. The sports book has an annual football contest and parlay cards pay up to 800-to-1 odds. As many as 40 racetracks or games are fed into the Hard Rock's video system simultaneously.

The sports book is flanked by glass barriers that keep out the casino noise, but still allow views of the action outside. Inside, there are six plush green leather booths with touch screen betting terminals and TVs built into tables, which are reserved for high rollers. There are a handful of seats available for other customers as well.

What gives this sports book its hip vibe is the adjacent sports bar, which features a few tables and six more leather booths with individual TV monitors. The bar also offers video poker and bar seating. There are nine flat screen TVs, making it an ideal place to kick back and watch a game.

It wouldn't be the Hard Rock without memorabilia and the walls of the sports bar are adorned with gorgeous photographs of some of sports greatest heroes including Wayne Gretzky, Oscar de la Hoya and Muhammad Ali. There is also a whimsical collection of sports bobbleheads in a case on the wall.
