Along with its famous fountains, the conservatory, high-end shopping, world-class restaurants and luxurious accommodations, the Bellagio is also home to the Gallery of Fine Art. Every year the gallery features a different exhibit, showcasing some of the most famous artists from around the world.
Opening Nov. 14, "Fabergé Revealed" showcases 238 rare Fabergé artifacts, the largest public collection of Fabergé items outside of Russia. The name Fabergé is synonymous with exquisite craftsmanship, taste and the history of the Russian imperial family from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The House of Fabergé produced more than 150,000 objects of art, jewels and silver articles – many of which were one-of-a-kind, for the imperial family of Russia. Most famously, Fabergé designed a series of Easter eggs, some which are featured in this exhibit including the Imperial Pelican Easter Egg (1897).
"These treasured objects encompass the beauty of art while also telling one of the most powerful stories in history – the fall of the Russian imperial family," said BGFA Executive Director Tarissa Tiberti. "Fabergé Revealed' will highlight each of the distinct styles displayed in the original House of Fabergé stores in St. Petersburg, Moscow and London centuries ago."
The Fabergé items are loan from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
