For a beautiful, sexy ambience, you can't beat Lavo at The Palazzo. It's owned and operated by the same folks who run TAO Las Vegas next door at The Venetian.
The 4,500-square-foot nightclub is located upstairs above the restaurant and lounge. Patrons must cross over a lovely bridge that is flanked by water basins. Although it's very dark inside Lavo, there are a couple of mirror-tiled arches as well as subtle lighting that runs from the floor up the embossed leather walls. In addition, several Moroccan-style chandeliers create a warm, orange glow. An elevated VIP area with posh banquettes provides exclusivity for those guests who are seeking privacy.
A cross between a mega club and an ultra lounge, Lavo's size is more on the intimate side -- and it often gets packed. The layout is simple. There's an expansive bar surrounded by plenty of seating -- including couches and chairs. Forty of the tables are used for bottle service. A small dance floor is situated toward the back, and there's a domed ceiling high above it that displays an array of colors and graphics. On some nights, revelers might be immersed in fog or rained upon with confetti, glowsticks and foam.
Depending on the DJ, the music at Lavo ranges from relaxing R&B to the all-out fun of top 40, techno and rap. Sundays -- better known as "Vice Sundays" -- are always a good night to go, thanks to the high-energy vibe created by DJ Vice. Star-studded evenings with celebrity guests are also common.
In addition to being a nightclub, Lavo is a great place to enjoy a classic Italian meal (be sure to try the meatballs) or just chill out with drinks in the lounge. There's even a wonderful terrace that overlooks the Strip as well as some fabulous happy hour specials.
