THEhotel is being transformed into Delano Las Vegas. All of the rooms as well as the restaurants and lounge will be redesigned. Construction has begun and will be completed by September 2014. The resort will remain open throughout construction.
THEhotel is the perfect complement to the already impressive Mandalay Bay property, providing an ultra sleek minimalist alternative with luxurious suites, upscale amenities and a gourmet restaurant.
The towering 43-story boutique hotel on Mandalay Bay's property has its own entrance and lobby (where guests must check in) that eschews the typical Vegas thematic decorations for a cosmopolitan look complete with the artwork of Arturo Herrera, Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol.
If the lobby has served notice that THEhotel is something different, the standard one-bedroom suite will confirm it -- at a staggering 725 square feet. Dark wood and rich earth tones create a modern look. The living rooms boast 42-inch plasma TVs, wet bars and executive-style desks with high-speed and wireless internet access. A separate bedroom has another large flat-screen TV and luxury linens. The marble master bathrooms feature separate tubs and glass-enclosed showers. There are stunning Strip and city vistas from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Located atop THEhotel, Mix restaurant and lounge also offers unparalleled views of the Strip and a gourmet menu from famed chef Alain Ducasse.
A fully equipped gym and the 14,000-square-foot Bathhouse spa round out the amenities.
THEhotel guests also have complete access to Mandalay Bay's pool and beach complex, shops, attractions and world-class entertainment and nightlife venues like the House of Blues, the Foundation Room and the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
By fall of 2014 everything here will look different. With renovations underway to transform THEhotel into Delano Las Vegas, all of the accommodations will be updated. Signature white décor will enhance light and create the feeling of a serene oasis. Guests will also enjoy many new amenities from 46-inch flat-screen Samsung TVs and media hubs to Keurig coffeemakers and Malin+Goetz bath products.
In addition, all of the restaurant and lounge spaces will be reinvented for Delano Las Vegas. There will be a 24-hour coffee bar, called 3940 Coffee + Tea, that will offer afternoon tea and wine and tapas in the evenings, and a farmhouse-meets-urban kitchen restaurant concept that features sustainable desert cuisine. A sophisticated bar/nightspot called Franklin will also debut with club-like elements, such as DJ-spun music.
The only facility not being transformed is the Bathhouse Spa. However, even this will get a new menu of treatments and signature services that will be available beginning in August 2014. This includes a collection of "Global Journeys," which will showcase exquisite rituals from far-off places like India and countries in Asia.
In the winter of 2014/2015 after Delano Las Vegas opens, Mix restaurant will become Rivea (with Ducasse still at the helm), and serve a blend of French and Italian cuisines. Details about Mix Lounge's makeover are not yet available.
