Risqué Review

Clubs in Vegas sometimes get the same idea little kids do when mom declares they’re grounded until their toys get picked up – in the rush to make things look clean, everything is shoved in a closet and the mess is saved for another day. Obviously, there aren’t many closets in Sin City’s party hubs, but it’s the principle – in the rush to get things open and going, some of the finer details are lost.

Risqué nightclub, however, would be a place to make mom proud (even if she would gasp at what you do once there). Every aspect of the club is impeccably fashioned, right down to the bathrooms, which house more opulence than you can shake a Dust Buster at.

The club, which bills itself as an “ultra lounge,” sits atop the Ah Sin Asian restaurant in a space smaller than some of the monster venues elsewhere on the Strip, but it makes things feel classier and more exclusive rather than cramped.

All the things you’d think to do during a night on the town in Vegas seem to be given their due at Risqué. There’s space for dancing -- DJs spin a mixture of Latin music, top 40, hip-hop and mash-ups, depending on the night. And space for relaxing – the table seating is somewhat private (but not entirely – it's still a nightclub) and it seems like thought was given to the chairs and couches because they’re actually worth sitting on for more than just a minute to catch your breath. There’s also space to watch one of the hottest free shows in town (for a VIP price) – balconies at Risqué offer guests a view of the Bellagio fountains and water show.

With the beauty of the Bellagio visible from the club, it would be easy for Risqué to pale in comparison, but it doesn’t. Adorned with rich and sexy hues of mostly red, the club taps a slightly Asian vibe for its elegance, with a few updated touches (including the lighting).

Crowds at Risqué vary from night to night and hour to hour. As the set just grabbing after-dinner drinks departs, the set that won’t wake up until dinner time the next day lines up.

It’s worth noting that in a club in a hotel named for a city where people are sometimes stereotypically thought of as a little snooty, the staff at Risqué couldn’t be farther from it. Everyone seems to be willing to help out and contribute to a good time – take a page from their book and check your own snooty impulses at the door.
