Tabú Review
Tabú, a chic nightspot located inside the MGM Grand, bills itself as Vegas first "ultra lounge." And ultra it is.
The club offers unique, sophisticated touches you won't find in either a typical Vegas lounge or anywhere else.
The experience begins with Tabú's models/hostesses who provide tableside drink mixology, fine bottle service and signature cocktails. Bottles are beautifully presented in a block of carved ice, with a tray of drink garnishes to match your choice of alcohol.
Reservations are required for table seating and you won't be disappointed if you decide to sit at one. The tables are veritable conversation pieces -- each one has constantly changing images that are projected onto the tabletop. The four tables in the main room and one in the Alcove are interactive, equipped with patented "Human Locator" technology -- the images on top respond to touch and motion.
Tabú has two bars and two private areas that can be used for exclusive VIP entry and dedicated model service. Tabú offers chilled champagne and vodka stored in climate-controlled iciness in a locker just off the Alcove -- a giant beehive room perfect for private parties.
Although there isn't a lot of floor space for dancing, house and visiting guest DJs spin music that gets people moving, often on top of the tables, where the in-house models also occasionally strut their stuff. Still, the tunes are kept at a refreshingly comfortable volume -- you can actually carry on a conversation.
The clientele at Tabú reflects the sophisticated, elegant atmosphere and decor -- you'll find a very well-heeled crowd here. If you're looking for a place where the beautiful people hang out, this is it.
Tabú is a 2005 Epicurean Award winner for Best Lounge.
