The Bank Review

In a city forever upping the ante (if you'll pardon the pun) with regard to entertainment, it's no surprise that the closing of the Bellagio's beloved Light Nightclub -- may it rest in peace -- brings with it a new club, the likes of which Las Vegas has never seen.

From the same group that brought you Light (that is, The Light Group) The Bank takes nightlife extravagance to the next level. With a design that manages to spotlight a foyer, a dance floor and opulent VIP booths all at the same time, the club oozes opulence from every square inch.

Clubbers are greeted by the same excitement-building escalator that carried them into the fun at Light, but now there are chandeliers lighting the way. The similarities really end there, so we'll depart from Light for the rest of this.

To maximize the space for The Bank, The Light Group dug eight feet under the, ahem, unnamed club that used to be there. This makes a for several-level experience where no matter what part of the club you're in, you can be watching some sort of action (and somebody can watch you do your thing, too.)

Pretty super features in the club include: drink rails. While, at first glance, it doesn't look like The Bank reinvented the wheel with this addition, trust us -- they did. Drink rails span pretty much every surface you'd want to stand in in the club and for anybody who's ever balanced a cocktail, a purse, a cell phone and a crumpled piece of paper with some scrawled digits, drink rails are this century's sliced bread.

A DJ booth sits elevated above the dance floor, while VIP booths are stacked in tiered rings around it (this is that previously mentioned multilevel thing). For a little more privacy check out some of the VIP booths off the floor (behind the bar, for instance) or on either side of the DJ booth.

Although the name, "The Bank" lends itself to some pretty tacky decorating ideas, the folks behind the club resisted any trite urges. No vaults or teller windows here, just a wall of Cristal and a claim that it, like its namesake, is "a sanctuary for all things precious." (Let's face it, in Sin City, there's nothing more precious than a good time.)

There are two bars, if you decide to forego the club's bottle service option, which, while pricey comes with some epic service.

It's not the cheapest club in town, but that's probably not what you're looking for anyway (nobody wants to be scrimp on their Vegas blowout extravaganza right?). So hit up your own bank (or ATM) and head over to The Bank to drop some coin on one of the most worthwhile nights you can have this side of Fort Knox.
