Kahunaville Review
The next time you're sitting here in the Vegas desert lamenting the heat, dry air and lack of any nearby ocean or lakes, try escaping to the tropical-themed bar and restaurant Kahunaville at Treasure Island.
Kahunaville offers a lush, tropical-feeling decor, all the tropical drink possibilities you can imagine and, yes, even water features. It's not the ocean, but Kahunaville's Dancing Waters Room has a waterfall wall that periodically turns into a fountain show with dancing water -- sort of a miniature indoor version of Bellagio's fountain attraction.
The restaurant also offers poolside dining and seating, so at least you can pretend you're near a beach while you lounge outside under the palm trees.
Inside, the bar has a fun, beach-party atmosphere. Bartenders here don't just mix and serve your drinks. Kahunaville employs several of the top flair bartenders in the country who juggle bottles, light drinks on fire and amaze customers with their unusual pouring skills.
Although the bar offers a virtual encyclopedia for a drink menu, your best bet is to try one of the tropical concoctions. Kahunaville makes some mean margaritas. Try the eye-catching Purple Margarita, made from blue curacao, Chambord, cranberry juice and tequila.
The "Floating Ritas" are another tasty option -- they are margaritas on the rocks with frozen margaritas floating on top.
Mai Tais, Kahuna Koladas and martinis round out the menu. One delectable dessert drink is the "Chocolatini" -- a chocolate martini made with chocolate liqueur and Chambord, which gives it a chocolate-covered-cherry taste. Beware -- this drink packs quite a punch.
Drinks range from about $6.50 to $12 for some of the really large drinks, which are big enough for two people to share.
If you're hungry, Kahunaville also has a large dining room and a reasonably priced menu. The food is quite tasty and includes a nice selection of seafood such as crab cakes, seafood gumbo, shrimp ravioli and more.
