Encore Beach Club Review

As if rumors of an unlimited budget and talk that Steve Wynn was looking to combine everything that was great at every other beach club, both in town and in St. Tropez, wasn't enough to hype the new Encore Beach Club, there was also opening weekend to help cement the club's early stature.

Of course the opening of the newest pool club in Las Vegas is sure to entice celebrities, but when those same stars come back the very next day to relive the excitement, that is when you know you have something special in the making.

That was the scene on Memorial Day weekend when football stars Brian Urlacher and Reggie Bush along with party-girl Paris Hilton set up shop at the Encore Beach Club during the day and at the adjoining Surrender Nightclub at night.

Tourists have become accustomed to nothing but the finest all the way down to the last detail when the Wynn name is attached to any product and the Encore Beach Club doesn't disappoint. From bars on either side of the club with a liquor selection long enough to rival the Great Wall of China, to service so efficient that you would be hard-pressed to find a drop of water on the pool deck, there isn't much else that Wynn could have squeezed into here.

Guests can relax in lily pads and lounge chairs without ever actually leaving one of the three-tiered pools, which are separated only by a walkway. Plush daybeds surround the outer edges of the pools and beyond that are two levels worth of cabanas and bungalows chock-full of amenities. There are the 55-inch, top-of-the-line televisions, temperature control units with misters and the bungalows with private bathrooms. The 26 cabanas and eight bungalows open up to balconies in the back with views of the Strip.

In the center of one of the pools is a dance station that has three silver poles and a circular red covering that streams down water in a rain-like flow and tops it off with misters on the outer ring. The dance station became quite the focal during the opening weekend. Let me just give you some free advice: Those aren't stripper poles, but some alcohol-influenced hottie will certainly try to give a free show.

Oh and one more tidbit, park in the garage at the Wynn and take the bridge over. It will drop you off almost right outside of the Beach Club, sparing you precious minutes that could be better spent partying.

The DJ booth is located just outside of Surrender and speakers are spread throughout the Beach Club. If the weather puts a damper on the day, the party doesn't have to stop. The DJ booth can simply be moved inside Surrender where there is a large window so the DJ can stay within view of the club.

And what would a pool club with Wynn's name be without a succulent selection of food and drinks? After all, Five-Diamond tags aren't just handed out like candy. The grill, located at the north side of the club, has everything from simple appetizers to mahi mahi soft tacos. Drinks, which can also be purchased by the pitcher, include an adult lemonade made with fresh fruit and iced tea named after golfer and former alcohol lover John Daly, who infamously lost $1.2 million in a matter of hours at a $5,000 slot machine at Wynn Las Vegas.

Had Encore Beach Club been built at that time, maybe Daly would have just invested a little money on one of the bungalows there instead. The hefty price tag for those who can afford it is well worth it to have essentially your own apartment poolside with a bikini-clad server who looks as if she stepped out of a magazine. But for the rest of us who can't leverage a year's salary, but still want to have fun, there is plenty of room to party next to the rich and famous at the Encore Beach Club.
