The Pond Review

After spending a few days in Vegas, it's easy to see your funds dissipate quickly. Those $15 cocktails add up after a while and you might as well donate a kidney to get into a top-notch show.

Before you know it, your wallet has taken more beatings than Edward Norton in "Fight Club" and you wonder, is there anywhere cheaper in Vegas?

Surprisingly enough, there is.

The Pond at Green Valley Ranch, an aptly named name pool club located about 10 miles off the Strip, has all the things you are looking for in the well-known clubs but at a more attractive price. Bottle service is as low as $75, there is never a cover and you can hear the same DJs spin here that you see at the mega-clubs.

The Pond is probably the most intimate setting of any pool club in town with cabanas located almost on top of the pool. When you enter the club you walk under a waterfall that pours into the pool. Unlike many pool clubs, the water here isn't the four-foot-deep wading pools you're used to. You can actually jump into the water without worrying about breaking a leg, but if you go for that cannonball there's no guarantee someone else won't break your leg for you.

Cabanas are located on the left and right sides of the pool and daybeds sit within a few feet of the pool itself. The DJ booth is mixed in with the cabanas on the left where you can hear DJs like Quira, who has spun at clubs such as Tao, and Mika Gold, one of the sexiest DJs in Vegas.

The cabanas here aren't for the people who just want to be seen. You won't find PS3s, flat-screen TVs or stripper poles but what you will find is plenty of seating and no fee for the space itself. You can get into a cabana or a daybed for as little as a $100 food and beverage minimum.

Specials and giveaways are the biggest appeal at The Pond. On Sun-Days (got to love marketing promotions) you can pick up a $100 bottle of Patron, there are $75 bottles of Skyy on Mondays or you can grab $20 pitchers of margaritas on Tuesdays.

The Pond also hosts Endless Reggae Saturdays beginning at 6 p.m. and throws in a hookah service for a fee.

The best part about stepping foot off the Strip is unlike "Fight Club" you can actually talk about your experience and maybe even have enough money left over to spring for those Elvis shades with built in sideburns you've been eyeing.
