Fitzgeralds Description

With a great lineup of entertainment, two floors of gaming, several dining choices, three trendy bars and one of the best vantage points for the Fremont Street Experience light and sound show, The D Las Vegas intends to become the newest hotspot in downtown.

Formerly known as Fitzgeralds, its Irish theme won't exist for much longer. The resort is currently undergoing a dramatic transformation to become sexier and more contemporary. Its new moniker -- The D Las Vegas -- pays tribute to its location in the resurging downtown scene as well as represents the Detroit roots of  its owners. CEO Derek Stevens is also called "D" by his friends.

Extensive renovations (scheduled to be completed by fall 2012) will include a contemporary remodeling of its 638 rooms and suites and a modernization of the casino floor. Gorgeous "Dancing Dealers" will soon be taking the betting action to a new level.

One new high-energy bar -- the Longbar, which stretches the length of the casino and is lined by 15 big-screen TVs, has recently opened, and the outdoor D Bar with flair bartenders will be launched in coming months. Plus, a new state-of-the-art sound system is being installed to keep the music pumping and the party going throughout the premises.

The D Las Vegas is the only downtown casino/hotel with two floors of gambling action. On the first floor you'll discover the latest in slot, video and table gaming. Those who want to enjoy vintage Vegas can head to the second floor, which is home to classic coin-operated machines.

To enjoy a full evening at the resort, check out its entertainment lineup: comedian Kevin Burke and "Marriage Can Be Murder." Or just sip on a cocktail and take in the sights of bustling Fremont Street from the Vue Bar, which boasts both indoor and outdoor patio seating.

For a superb meal in a refined setting, Don B's Steakhouse features great food and service. Other casual dining options include the Courtyard Grill & Buffet, McDonald's and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

Fitzgeralds may have had the Irish charm...but The D Las Vegas is sure to become the pot of gold beneath the rainbow of the downtown Las Vegas skyline.
