A fixture of Fremont Street for 60 years, the Golden Nugget Las Vegas remains one of the city's classiest resorts, featuring plush accommodations, sumptuous dining and fast-paced casino action. With the first phase of a $100 million renovation project complete, the Golden Nugget only improves with time.

True to its name, everything about the Golden Nugget Las Vegas glimmers like precious metal -- that includes the Hand of Faith, the largest single nugget of gold in the world, which is displayed (free of charge) inside the hotel. From a signature gold-leaf facade and marbleized lobby to its nearly 2,000 luxuriously appointed rooms, all elements of this classic property exude sophistication.

The resort's newest jewel is a 200,000-gallon aquarium, the centerpiece of the new three-story pool complex, called The Tank. An enclosed water slide speeds swimmers through the colorful reef habitat, which includes several shark species, stingrays and fish.

Views of The Tank can be enjoyed along with and classic Vegas elegance in some of the Golden Nugget's eateries, including Grotto Ristorante and The Buffet. Other options include the premier steakhouse Vic & Anthony's and the Cantonese-American temptations at Lillie's Noodle House.

It should go without saying that the Golden Nugget's centerpiece is its 36,000-square-foot casino, where the real action takes place. Gamblers of all levels will find something to challenge their dollar here, either on the main casino floor, in the high limit slot salon, in the poker room or perhaps at the hotel's country-club-style race and sports book.

Also, take some time out to step into luxury at The Spa at the Golden Nugget or catch a show in the 600-seat theater, The Showroom. RUSH Lounge, meanwhile, offers signature cocktails and ambient music in an intimate, modern atmosphere.
