Mandalay Bay Description

For those that missed that lesson in English class, Mandalay, as in Mandalay Bay, comes from a Rudyard Kipling poem of the same name. And while the poem contains references to Burma, Rangoon and China – locales all far from the desert paradise of Sin City – Mandalay Bay, the Las Vegas resort, evokes the same kind of awe.

Just inside the resort’s doors, the options and ways to have a good time start and never stop. Whether it’s dancing your way through the many nightlife options housed on the property or a whirlwind tour of some of the most praised restaurants in the city - or both - the possibilities are endless.

In a walk much shorter than the distance between Russia and Italy, visitors can grab a drink at Red Square (the vodka selection is epic) and either stay for a taste of some Russian-inspired favorites, or head a few yards across the way to Wolfgang Puck’s Trattoria del Lupo, an Italian restaurant featuring a few twists on some old classics. For one more stamp on your food passport, visit the refined French restaurant, Fleur de Lys. Or, if an unmatched take on American cuisine is more your speed, don’t miss Mix, located at the top of THEhotel.

But dinner is just the start of a night at Mandalay Bay. Feeling the need to burn off a few calories? Head over to Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce, rumjungle or Late Night at House of Blues to dance the night – and your dinner – away.

If an after-dinner show sounds like a great time, check out House of Blues or, for bigger events, the Mandalay Bay Events Center, for some of the best concerts in the country. Theater buffs, or just the theater-curious, can take in a performance of the Broadway favorite Mamma Mia! in the resort’s theater.

It’s not all about the nightlife though – Mandalay Bay has plenty of things to do in the bright light of day. Get up close with some toothy friends at the Shark Reef, featuring more than 2,000 animals. If you’d rather do the swimming yourself, take a dip in the one of the resort’s four pools at Mandalay Beach, featuring a lazy river and wave pool.

With so many different things to do, it’s possible that the perfect outfit just didn’t get packed. But Mandalay Bay’s got that covered, too - Mandalay Place offers more than 40 shops to fulfill any wardrobe needs.
