Mandalay Beach Review

The premier pool area in Vegas, Mandalay Bay's seems to be more of a water park. Covering 11 acres, the tropical park features three exotic pools, water gardens with lush foliage, waterfalls, fountains, a sandy beach, lazy river, and of course, the wave pool, where waves can reach six feet high.

Mandalay Bay has added Moorea Beach Club where guests can enjoy a European style beach. Featuring two dipping pools, admission to the club on Monday through Thursday is $10 for women and $40 for men. On the weekends, women pay $10 and men pay $50. Day beds are available for rent seven days a week. Opium beds, which seat six, are available starting at $250. A pavilion, an enclosed VIP area with its own dipping pool and amenities, costs up to $750.

Guests can rent rafts or inner tubes for $20 a day - the charge can be applied to your room; those paying cash will be charged an additional $5 deposit. Those desiring a cabana can rent one for $250 - $750 per day. Free-standing shower heads are available to those who'd like to rinse off after a day at the beach.

Mandalay Bay's pool also occasionally plays host to a variety of music acts. With a stage jutting out into the wave pool, guests can choose to watch from the water, or bring a blanket and sit on the sandy beach. It's the best place to watch a concert in the summer; giant fire cauldrons light up the warm summer nights, and crowds are friendly and fun.

With the proximity to the stage and the sound quality you'll enjoy, there's no experience like a night at Mandalay Bay's beach. Once you've seen one concert there, you'll want to go to them all.

Diverse acts in the concert series range from jazz to hard rock to '80s pop. Drink availability is great, with bars at either end and rovering beer vendors. Doors open one hour before the concerts begin.

The beach also features a three-story, climate-controlled, glass-fronted casino which includes a range of amenities for its guests. On the first level, beach-goers can ditch the simple poolside snacks and select from an expansive menu at the Beach Bar & Grill. The second floor brings in the excitement from the casino with beach side gaming offering remarkable views of the sparkling pool. Unlike the typical casino atmosphere, dealers are dressed for a day in the sun, so beach attire is strongly encouraged. On the third floor sits the Villas Soleil, offering personal cabana service and access to the private third-level pool. Each cabana seats 16 guests and provides a day bed, a restroom, wet bar, 50-inch flat screen TV, MP3 player, ceiling fan, safe, changing area and a private deck overlooking the Mandalay Beach. Prices start from $750 and can cost up to $2,000 per day. Guests staying here can also enjoy a spectacular view for the evening concerts on the beach (tickets sold separately).

Mandalay Beach will also add 1,000 more beach and poolside chairs and lounges. For those patrons seeking more privacy, poolside day beds will be available. These spaces hold up to six guests and features canopy shades, TVs, safes and personal cabana service.
