The Colorado is still mighty.

The Colorado is still mighty.
The Southwest's most fabled river, the mighty Colorado, runs 1,450 miles through parts of seven U.S. states. Sourced in the central Rocky Mountains, the river flows southwest across the Colorado Plateau before reaching the lower end of Grand Canyon, where it widens into Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the continental United States, formed by Hoover Dam. more...
Though the river is known for its white-knuckle whitewater rafting, Colorado River tours in these parts drift toward the leisurely. These day-trips, usually aboard motorized inflatable rafts, take you through spectacular Black Canyon - the natural gorge of the Colorado River immediately below Hoover Dam. Enjoy and share in the history, desert wildlife and beauty of this otherwise inaccessible and rugged landscape.
Tour guides will point out bighorn sheep, hidden waterfalls and hot springs. Some tours even provide a picnic lunch a beach.
Many tours also include a stop at Hoover Dam itself, and include round-trip transportation from Las Vegas hotels.
Wedged on the border of Arizona and Nevada, the Hoover Dam is an iconic feat of 20th century engineering. But it's also an important tool in the management of the Colorado River. Below the dam, the river passes under the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, which is the highest concrete arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere.
All of which makes for spectacular viewing, whether you're on the dam or on the bridge. Little wonder Colorado River tours are wildly popular.
